About the division

The textile business has been a central part of Mahmood Group’s industrial development. Over the years, the Group has built a comprehensive textile ecosystem supported by large-scale manufacturing facilities, advanced machinery, and specialized production units.This vertically integrated structure enables the Group to manage multiple stages of textile production internally, from cotton processing and yarn spinning to fabric manufacturing and finished textile products. Through these capabilities, Mahmood Group continues to supply textile products to international markets while maintaining strong production standards and operational efficiency.

Core Operations

The textile division operates across several specialized production areas that together form an integrated manufacturing system.

Cotton Ginning

Mahmood Group operates one of Pakistan’s largest ginning setups and is considered among the largest in Asia. With more than six decades of industry experience, the ginning operations process raw cotton with strict contamination control systems to produce high-quality cotton inputs for further textile processing.

Production capacity reaches 200,000–250,000 bales per season, supporting downstream spinning and textile manufacturing operations.

The Group also works directly with trained farmers to ensure consistent cotton supply and quality

Cotton Cultivation

Mahmood Group supports cotton cultivation through partnerships with farming communities and corporate farming initiatives. Cotton is grown by trained farmers and carefully selected to maintain fiber quality for textile production.

The Group also operates approximately 400 acres of its own cotton fields, supporting controlled cultivation practices and quality assurance.

  • Cotton fabrics is first defoliated thas remove leaves.
  • Machine Harvests the cotton annd form it into bales.
  • A cotton gin separtes cotton seeds from boils.
  • Weaving is woven into a particular type of material.

Yarn Spinning

Spinning operations are carried out through Mahmood Textile Mills Ltd. and Masood Spinning Mills Ltd., forming one of the Group’s major production capabilities.

  • Spinning operations established in 1972
  • Approximately 300,000 installed spindles
  • 11 specialized production units
  • Annual yarn production of approximately 140,000 tons
  • Production capacity ranging from 4/1 to 120/1 yarn counts
  • Export ratio of approximately 80%

Annual business volume of approximately USD 400 million

The spinning division produces a wide range of yarn types including natural fibers, regenerated fibers, and synthetic fiber blends.

 

Specialized Yarn Production

The spinning division offers specialized yarn solutions produced on a made-to-order basis.

Examples include:

Natural fibers
Cotton linen, cotton kapok, siro yarn

Regenerated fibers
Tencel, modal, bamboo, viscose blends

Synthetic fibers
Meta aramid, para aramid, nylon yarn, polyester blends

Additional yarn categories include slub yarns, stretch yarns, wool blends, and core spun yarns designed for technical textile applications.

Weaving

Fabric production is supported through Mahmood Textile Mills Ltd., established in 1992.

Key capabilities include:

  • 228 air jet looms sourced from Toyota and Picanol
  • Fabric production capacity of approximately 5 million yards per month
  • High-count thread capabilities up to T-600
  • Fabric width production up to 130 inches

The weaving division produces fabrics for several industries including:

  • Apparel manufacturing
  • Home textiles
  • Technical textile applications

Specialized fabric capabilities include fire-retardant fabrics, anti-static textiles, PFD/PTD/PFGD fabrics, and coated technical fabrics.

 

Knitted Fabrics

The Group also produces a wide range of knitted fabrics used across apparel and textile manufacturing.

Fabric types include:

  • Fleece and textured fleece
  • French terry
  • Slub textured fleece
  • Piqué fabrics
  • Jersey fabrics across multiple weights
  • Rib fabrics with and without Lycra
  • Interlock fabrics including waffle and thermal variations

Additional customization options include engineered stripes and specialty fabric blends.

Home textile Products

The textile division produces a broad range of home textile products through a vertically integrated production setup.

Products include:

  • Bed linen
  • Duvet covers
  • Comforters
  • Bed spreads
  • Curtains
  • Cushion covers
  • Pillow covers

Production capacity reaches approximately 100,000 units per month, supported by integrated printing, dyeing, and finishing operations.

Terry Towels

The division also produces terry towels supported by in-house spinning and dyeing operations.

Production capacity reaches approximately 12,000 towels per day.

Mahmood Group collaborates with approximately 12,000 smallholder farmers across 55,000 acres of agricultural land to promote responsible cotton cultivation. These initiatives include organic cotton production, regenerative agriculture programs, and responsible cotton initiatives aligned with global sustainability standards.
